Phoenix Display
Show one Mac's screen on another Mac — over Wi-Fi, Ethernet or a Thunderbolt cable.
The app has a step-by-step guide built in: Help ▸ Phoenix Display Guide (⌘?). The same steps are below.
Getting started
- Install Phoenix Display on both Macs.
- On the Mac that will show the picture, choose Use as display.
- On the Mac you want to show, choose Send this screen.
- On the sending Mac, allow Screen Recording: System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen Recording ▸ turn on Phoenix Display, then quit and reopen the app.
- Allow Local Network on both Macs when macOS asks.
- On the showing Mac, click the sending Mac in the list — or type its address under Connect by address.
Troubleshooting
Black or frozen picture
Screen Recording is off on the sending Mac. Turn it on (off and on again if it already shows on), then reopen the app.

The other Mac never appears
Both Macs must be on the same network with Local Network allowed. Otherwise use Connect by address; the address is on the sending Mac's Connection page.

Stutters or blurs
Choose a lower quality, or use Ethernet or a Thunderbolt cable (Thunderbolt Bridge is the fastest).

Why 5K needs HEVC
Apple's hardware H.264 encoder stops at 4096 × 2304. When both Macs decode HEVC, Phoenix Display streams up to 5120 × 2880; otherwise it falls back to H.264 automatically.
